Businessman, TV host, and model Mark Wei made waves online with a birthday message for his former business partner, Kapuso actor Ken Chan, who is embroiled in a syndicated estafa case linked to the failed Christmas-themed restaurant they co-owned.
Wei’s message comes as Chan remains elusive amid ongoing legal issues.
In an Instagram story posted on Chan’s birthday, Wei shared a photo of them with another individual, alongside a pointed message: “Happy Birthday, Ken! Ang wish ko for your birthday, ay sana lumabas ka na at sabihin mo na ang totoo para sa peace of mind ng lahat. Para matapos na ‘to.”
Wei added: “You can run for now, but you can’t hide forever.”
Ken Chan has been the subject of controversy since 2024, when investors of his now-closed restaurant filed complaints against him for alleged financial mismanagement. A warrant of arrest was issued after the business reportedly failed, leaving several investors claiming significant losses.
Authorities have struggled to locate Chan, who is believed to be abroad. Critics allege he is avoiding legal accountability, further intensifying public interest in the case.
In November 2024, Chan broke his silence via Facebook, admitting the business failure and expressing his readiness to face legal proceedings: “Tahimik kong inihahanda ang sarili ko sa laban,” Chan wrote, thanking fans, brands, and supporters for standing by him despite the allegations.
The case has drawn mixed reactions from fans and the public. Some have voiced support for Chan, emphasizing the challenges of entrepreneurship, while others demand transparency and resolution for the affected investors.
As Chan remains out of the public eye, all eyes are on how he will address the legal complaints and his former business partner’s plea for the truth.
