Actress Sanya Lopez found herself in the middle of controversy after engaging in a public spat with a netizen over Kapuso actor David Licauco.
The issue began when a social media user with the handle @truelaloo1980 accused Sanya of deleting her response to a sarcastic comment about Licauco. The comment read, “Saksak mo si David sa baga mo,” implying that Sanya was being possessive of the actor. Sanya initially responded with a dismissive “luuuh,” but the reply was later deleted, prompting the netizen to accuse her of backtracking to avoid further criticism.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the netizen wrote: “Bakit nag-delete after mo mag-reply, @sanyalopez? Para ipagtanggol ka ni David Licauco gaya ng ginawa kay Kisen [a reference to Licauco’s past defense of Barbie Forteza]?”
Sanya, however, was quick to defend herself, stating that she did not delete the comment and criticized the basher for hiding behind an anonymous account.
“Oh my dear. I’m not the one who deleted it. Sayang, minsan lang ako sumagot, dinilete pa niya. HAHA, pang-2nd ka. Sad nga e, wala siyang face, parang ikaw din kapag nagco-comment. Next time sana ‘yung may mukha talaga para paniwalaan din, ‘di ba?”
The actress also made it clear that she would no longer respond to similar comments in the future: “Di na ko sasagot kahit kanino next time. Gusto ko ‘yung iniisip mong talo ako. Para masaya ka, bhie.”
The tension between fans stems from David Licauco’s strong on-screen chemistry with Barbie Forteza in the hit historical series ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’. Some fans have accused Sanya of allegedly attempting to overshadow the David-Barbie love team after she and David were seen together at a recent event.
Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that Sanya is the sister of Jak Roberto, Barbie Forteza’s ex-boyfriend. This has led some fans to speculate about a deeper rivalry between the actresses.
Despite the fan wars, both Sanya and David are moving forward with their careers. The two are set to reunite for an upcoming project under GMA Pictures. They previously starred together in the Kapuso series ‘Pulang Araw’, alongside Barbie Forteza, Alden Richards, and Dennis Trillo, which concluded on December 27, 2024.
