Former matinee idol and Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary captain Diether Ocampo recently spoke about his personal life, particularly his role as a father, in an interview with Korina Sanchez in 2023.
Ocampo expressed his immense pride in his 19-year-old son, Dream, highlighting the values and lessons he has instilled in him over the years.
“Tinuruan ko siya na maging humble at laging maging grateful,” Ocampo said, emphasizing how important it was for him to guide Dream toward developing a strong character.
Dream, who was born in April 2004 to Diether and a former non-showbiz girlfriend, has been excelling academically and showing leadership potential.
According to Diether, Dream has held positions such as class president and has been nominated for various roles in his school’s student council. The actor also revealed his son’s growing interest in fields like management, business, and finance.
“Mahusay siya sa academics, at na-e-excel siya sa school. It’s something that makes me really proud,” Diether shared.
Dream was first introduced to the public at his seventh birthday celebration in 2011, held at Manila Ocean Park. At the event, Diether invited underprivileged children to join the festivities—a gesture meant to teach his son the value of gratitude and sharing blessings.
“I wanted to make sure na maging mabuting tao siya at laging tumingin sa kapakanan ng iba,” Diether added.
Now 19 years old, Dream has also attracted attention for his good looks and athleticism, which mirrors his father’s own passion for sports during his younger years. Diether remains focused on helping his son maintain a grounded perspective on life.
On Father’s Day last year, Diether took to social media to share a heartfelt throwback photo of him and a young Dream, saying, “Nakaka-proud makita kung paano siya lumaki bilang isang mabuting bata.”
Despite his busy schedule with the Coast Guard and occasional acting projects, Diether emphasized that his role as a father remains his greatest accomplishment.
“Bilang isang ama, I believe na ang paghubog ng kanyang magandang character ang pinakamalaking ambag ko sa buhay niya,” he concluded.
Diether’s candid reflections have inspired many fans, who praised his dedication to both his professional responsibilities and his family life.
