Singer-songwriter Denise Julia has announced a temporary hiatus from social media, following allegations of unprofessionalism from celebrity photographer BJ Pascual.
The ‘b.a.d.’ hitmaker took to her Instagram Stories on December 21 to reveal her decision to detox from the digital world. She wrote:
“Aaand that’s officially my last post for the year. Socmed break starts now. Detoxing from the digital world. Apps deleted, focus restored. Will be back next year. I love you guys.”
The controversy began when BJ Pascual named Denise Julia as his “worst person to shoot” during an episode of the ‘Bad Btch Bible*’ podcast with Killa Kush.
BJ detailed his experience, revealing that Denise’s team had reached out for a collaboration on an album cover and music video. Despite initial hesitations due to prior feedback about her professionalism, BJ agreed to the project, describing it as a passion project with no talent fees involved.
However, BJ said Denise’s team abruptly canceled the shoot the night before, citing the hairstylist’s unavailability. The photographer shared his frustration:
“Girl… This was already 10 PM. The call time was 6 AM the next day. We had been setting up since 4 PM.”
BJ also disclosed that Denise’s camp refused to pay a cancellation fee, arguing that negotiations were still incomplete. He countered, saying, “Excuse me? It’s the day before the shoot. Kayo ‘yung nagpumilit to shoot on this day.”
The photographer expressed disappointment, noting how the cancellation disrupted his team’s efforts and preparations. To salvage the day, another celebrity was brought in to use the pre-prepared set.
BJ further added, “After that, I never heard from her. No thank you, no sorry, no anything.”
Denise Julia rose to prominence in 2022 with her viral hit single ‘b.a.d.’ However, her burgeoning career has faced scrutiny over accusations of “sexual objectification” and “queer baiting” in her music and public statements.
